He was later forced to start from the pit lane after having an unscheduled gearbox change and changing his ICE, turbocharger, MGU-H and rear wing assembly while his car was in the parc fermé. He was given permission from the stewards to participate in the race.

The race, however, went on without major incidents, and Leclerc took an emotional maiden victory in F1 as Hamilton settled in second having been closing into Leclerc during the final laps. In qualifying, Charles Leclerc took his third pole position, while his teammate Sebastian Vettel qualified second, marking Ferrari's first pole and front-row lockout at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps since the 2007 Belgian Grand Prix. It was held between 30 August and 1 September 2019. The 2019 Belgian Grand Prix (officially the Formula 1 Johnnie Walker Belgian Grand Prix 2019) was the thirteenth race of the 2019 Formula One season, and the sixty-third time the Belgian Grand Prix was held on the Formula One calendar.
